Haven't heard much news regarding the closure of Avondale Caravans,anyone with any news on what is happening please.Jim

all staff redundant, all of the last caravans gone, all stock inc parts machinery sold, premises up for sale and all responsibilites to suppliers and customers closed. so absolutely possitively no chance of ever seeing a new avondale ever again. DONE

Carol, it was a simple statement of fact, nothing more, nothing less, and as the topic has had so much coverage it comes as a surprise so long after the shut down to have that question asked.

in todays manchester evening news there is a competition to win a caravan, i was intrigued to see that the van was described as an explor golden mayfair.

is xplor not the explorer group ? and i know that glossop caravans sold the avondale mayfair as a dealer special called the golden and glossop have suplied the van to the evening news!.

ive copied an extract of the description below, is it possible explorer have bought the rights to avondales name ?.

"The four-berth Xplore Golden Mayfair 470/4 Special Edition caravan is lightweight and can be easily towed by an average family car. As well as a plush interior it has a fully integrated Thetford fridge, Spinflo Prima oven, 3-burner hob and a beautifully designed washroom".

the "golden" name is a dealer special used by glossop. so instead of glossop asking avondale to produce a special with the name golden, they have asked explorer instead. the name is glossop`s not avonddale`s

Jimbob, I fail to see what a simple statement of fact is deemed as some kind of insult, or whatever.

On this forum alone there are 136 postings or thereabouts relating to the demise of Avondale.

On two other forums there are 17, 508 views of postings all related to Avondale with 402 replies to various posts.

It takes more than keyboard warriors to upset me, what does upset me is folk who are too lazy to use the search facility or just use common sense and maybe even Google, and those who try and push the limits of what is allowed to be posted in full knowledge that it will cause upset.

As for this being a job, how many times does it have to be said, the Mods DO NOT work for Haymarket.

i dont think you have understood what i have posted or rather you have failled to read the post corectly !. i posted that a caravan called "explor golden mayfair" was being offered as a prize, i am pretty well aware of glossops branding with the golden name having owned a golden vip and a golden laser however its the use of the name "explor" which is a shortned version of explorer and the name "mayfair" which is an avondale trade mark, this is the reason for my post in which i ask whether the caravans name could possibly be an indication of the explorer group having bought the rights to avondales name, especially since glossop caravans are a main dealer for explorer as well as ex avondale and coachman and swift !.

I asked a simple question and received an unintelligent answer.

As for putting up or shutting up,thats not the sort of language to use on a caravan website,behave.
