AWD Motor Mover

Hi,
We Purchased an Elddis superstorm last year which came with an AWD motor mover.
We could never get the motor mover to work. This last time we were away we realised the previous owner had put an unsuitable battery in the caravan which we have now replaced. We've had variations of the following:
Front both engage and rotate
All engage but one rear side one wont rotate

The New Battery is fully charged 12.8 volts.
We were then in a situation where the 3 engage and 1 does not, the 1 that doesn't can rotate but the other back one engages but doesn't rotate.
We replaced the bushes on the two problematic ones - when we change the one that engaged but didn't rotate, nothing changed.
When we replaced the one that rotated but wouldn't engage all of a sudden nothing worked.

We put the old bushes back on this one and now are in a situation where the light on the box goes green once you turn the isolator switch on but as soon as you try to press any buttons on the remote, it starts to move then cuts out, box lights go off and its all dead!

Any hints of tips on where to start with our trouble shooting.

Extra info is we had to replace the whole unit that holds the battery as the hinge broke - I have also changed the fuse between the isolation switch and the box

You don't tell us the make and model of the mover, but regardless of the make the types of symptoms suggest a range of possible causes, including poor connections, a fault control board, and fault engagement systems and or motor. If you have any warranty left from the purchase I suggest you contac t the seller to get them to resolve the problems. Otherwise considering the range of issues you might be best to get the the system checked by an authorised dealer.

We now suspect that when previously owned, a part which should be a fuse (125a) was replaced with metal and that a result of that is that the control board is fried. We have ordered said fuse to see if that at least helps, if not, it'll likely need a new board

What is the ampere of the new battery? Do the movers turn when they are off the wheels? As requested, the brand name of the motor mover would be helpful. A new board will probably not be cheap.

Replacing the metal with a fuse is very unlikely to change anything, except the possibility it might instantly blow the new fuse. I'm almost certain that if the original 125A fuse blew, it does mean something on the control circuit board will have been damaged. And if the fuse was replaced with a piece of metal, then heaven only knows what further damage may have been caused. It certainly fits with the control problems you have experienced.

I would not recommend even trying to use the mover as it could start a fire if its pulling more than 125A. It will also likely damage the battery.

I seriously believe you should now seek help form the mover manufacturer or one of their appointed dealers to resolve the issues.

If it’s a Powrtouch mover then they are often switched off prior to the mover finishing their cycle, there are two ways of making sure the cycle is complete 1) watch the light on the handset, it will continue to flash until the cycle has finished, 2) listen, when the motor gets to the end it will stop making a noise, then it will pause for a few seconds then do a short relax.

If the motors have been turned off before the relax and won’t engage then there is an opaque plastic cover on the end of the motors, take this out, you should have a 7mm nut driver that came with the mover, all you need to do is insert this into the hole and turn the nut just enough to move it, this should enable the motor to engage again. This nut can be used to wind the motors fully off in the event of battery failure.

I would contact AWS Mobile caravan engineer they would come out and check this motor motor and advise what is wrong for the peace of mind
