Just wondering how you calculate Awning/Annexes from Centimetres to Feet.
Over here in Australia if your van is 15ft you buy a 15ft Awning/Annex ans so on, so just wondering how to calculate the various equivelent sizes i.e 11ft = cm 12ft = cm 13ft = cm 13ft = cm 14ft = cm 15ft = cm and so on ?
I know in the UK you measure from ground to ground.
Does anyone know of a link to a conversion table.

Thanks
Tony

Presumably auspom you're not just looking for a feet to cm conversion. I must admit to not knowing that awnings are ever sold just on caravan length. When you say a 15ft caravan are you talking about length without the A-Frame? Any conversion would not be as accurate as a ground to ground measurement as things like the angle of the front panel could greatly affect the awning size required.

Hi Auspom
According to an earlier post you now have a 2001 Fleetwood Colchester.
You could ask your family to measure ground to ground, or contact some awning manufacturers and see if they have any charts, ask a Fleetwood Colchester owner on here, oh look I've done it for you

.

I received my PC mag yesterday and like Fleabay it is full of secondhand awnings. Did you want new?
Or look at this chart?? I just googled the conversion and comes up with 30.48 cm = 1foot ot 2.54 cm = 1 inch, got same figures on an app but never sure with apps if quoting correctly so pretty sure these figures are accurate.

Hi & Thanks for your replies.

On the aussie vans the awning rail only goes from top left corner to top right cormer, it does not come down or follow the contour of the front and rear end side walls.
If you buy a 15ft Awning/Annex it usualy refers to 15ft of the actual vans bodywork nothing to do with drawbar.
Thanks dusty for the chart, the Fleetwood is coming with an Awning/Annex but i was just curious how to to the equivelents to our size vans.

Ooops Senior moment
My most sincere apologies,

I was thinking about the long side of A4 paper Doh.

Ancient Caravanner and others are of course correct 1 foot = 30.48cm
