It still hasn't arrived do you think we have waited long enough and should take action ??

Well I have already had an issue with the dealer (another thread) but although you can order on line i ordered it through the general manager. Awnings direct is the firms mail order company

I bought a BaseCamp from the following company -

Awnings Direct & Tents Too

Sandy Lane

Wideopen

Tyne and Wear

NE3 5HA

Without going into long details it only lasted 4 days before it blew down. I rang the company and spoke to someone called Sid. This person, as I tried to explain what happened, kept talking over me and saying nothing could be done as it was classed as storm damage. After a long heated phone call I gave up because I could see I was getting nowhere.

I eventually bought a Sunncamp (better quality awning than BaseCamp) from another company because we were off on holiday again. It was a couple of months later that my wife, because it was bugging her, wrote to the Manager. I had a phone call from the Manager within a couple of days apologising for the shoddy service and thats not the way he does business. He told me he would send a replacement immediately and not to bother sending the old one back as that would cost me about

We bought our sunncamp scenic from towsure, placed the order online on a sunday and it was at the door on the tuesday and i didnt even pay for express service.

I would definetly be bending someone's ear at the company you have ordered it from, tell them that if its not with you pronto you want your money back and you will take your custom elsewhere.

Don't know if you can remember but I posted a thread a few month ago about a dealer who sold an awning he was keeping for me, and other stuff happened.

Well this is the same company you dealt with and i dare bet the same manager.

I complained to Bailey about the manner in which we were dealt with by one of their dealers.

I am under the impression that the manager is a bit peeved at this and holding the awning back.

We have bought a suncamp ultima 390 to get us by, but still need a proper awning.

Don't get me wrong, the dealers and shop/awning side are the cheapest I have found, It's just our relationship with the said company is not what it should be.

Regards john

Hi we bought both our Scenic Ultima 360 and 390 from awnings direct no problems with them next day delivery on both occassions. The blue was in stock for the 360 but we had to have a green for the 390. When we where in a caravan shop in Swansea they never had a blue 390, must be a popularf colour. We were trying to locate an inner tent for this awning and where having difficulty finding one any where. One caravan store in Essex told me that he heard that the Sunccamp delivery where tied up in the customers in Dover. Maybe this is the case with yours? We received delivery from the company we ordered from, just before the last Bank Holiday.

If you think they are holding it back from you, have you tried to ring them and asking if they have one in stock? If they say yes tell them you have placed an order with???? Tom Lambert was the guy I had to e-mail for notification of the inner tent. Tom@awings.co.uk. Good Luck let us know.

Why pussyfoot around with these people, demand your money back or go to trading standards and get the dealer some serious grief.

If you paid using a credit card, get onto the card company and say you've paid for goods you have not received and want the money back from the retailer.

Just did a search and "world of camping " web site seems to have blue Sunncamp Awnings in Stock.

Just pop in on a busy weekend and talk loudly about the poor service and shoddy way you've been treated, make some noise and they'll change their tune.

Your paying out your hard earned cash, DEMAND some respect and action or take your cash elsewhere.

Quite simple. Just CANCEL the order, and buy elsewhere.

The only thing these clowns understand is hitting them in the pocket. I don't subscribe to all this 'out of stock' ,'might be a few days', 'can we ring you back' (and never do), etc etc nonsense.

If they can't supply what you want DITCH THEM.

There are plenty of good awning suppliers out there, and most of them will supply you an awning within a few days. They are the ones that appreciate your business, and as a consequence look after you as a CUSTOMER.

Something this outfit seems to have forgotten.

Try NR Awnings. They are excellent.

Not sure if this helps. We ordered a new awning ( dorema) for our new caravan within the last 7 days from Wauby's internet site, got delivery within 3 days and we had not asked for express delivery. Wauby's advertise in Practical Caravan, not sure if sell the awning you want, but worth a look. There are better company's out there than the one you are dealing with. I'd follow the advise that has already been mentioned here.

Good luck. Annette

Last evening (friday) at 9 pm I ordered a tent from Khyam France over the net.

This morning I received an email saying they had posted it on Thursday, giving a link to the French postal service colissimo, who confirm that it's on the way.

Now that's what I call service!

James
