My wife and I recently bought (late August) a new Porto which we're really happy with. Fast forward to the caravan show a couple of weeks back, where we bought an Isabella Shadow 360 sun canopy to keep some of the rain off through the Winter, obviously. I took it to the caravan today to try it out. Like our regular awning, I fed the sun canopy in from the front and it glided with no problem until it got up to the plasticky joint thing* (I insist on technical correctness with these terms) just past the high-level marker light, where it stopped and wouldn't go any further. I tried repeatedly, but it felt as though there was silicone or something in the back of the slot that was stopping its progress.
I tried again from the rear of the van and had the same trouble with the equivalent plasticky joint thing towards the rear, but with this one - standing on a ladder - I was eventually able to pull it through, though it was quite an effort. I slid it along, but obviously when the leading edge met the front plasticky joint thing it would go no further. It's better than not having the canopy up at all, but it doesn't really extend past the caravan door, and there'd be no way we could put up our proper awning in the Spring.
The restriction feels very much like an excess of a sealant or adhesive material. I tried to excavate the back of the rail where it narrowed using the thinnish implements I had with me, but no luck, and I didn't want to break any seals.
Has anyone encountered this before? Is this a "call the dealer" job to fix, or should I carry on trying to remove some of the excess material? The dealer (Swindon Caravans) is about 1 1/2 hours away from where the 'van is.
Cheers,
Jon
