Awning Rail

Hi

I bought a Lunar Chateau last year and as this was the first caravan we have had we bought everything new to begin with. I found however that putting up the new awning was a bit of a struggle and taking it down was too as it was very stiff in the rail. Can anyone recommend anything to make it a bit easier? I have the right size awning for the job. It rained the whole weekend I took it away last year - would that have made it harder to remove?

Thanks

Stu

First of all, check the awning rail isn't damaged and restricting the free flow and also that there is no deris in it, i.e. sealing mastic etc. Then try a squirt of furniture polish that contains wax or look for a propriety lubricator especialy for awning rails at a caravan store. Lakeland do a silicon type spray for drawers etc that is ok, do a search.

Hope that helps, Brian

If I was you I would have a look at the awning track fist as if there mite be some thick in it that shud not be there and I would be careful what you use to clean the track out with as so things can do moor harm the good to your awning.

Towsure do a great little kit with proper silicone liquid and a shaped brush together with a tool to repair a damaged awning rail.

We had the same problem but after using the lubicant and just "fettling" the rail in a few places - no word of a lie - our awning can be pulled round with just gentle pressure.

The pack is no more than a couple of quid

When you have cleaned the rail and squirted a bit of silicone in invest about a fiver and buy yuorself a puller, which is like a peg puller but about 18inch long and makes the job easy, most good accesory shops should sell them.
