Hi - I am on the verge of replacing my much loved 22 year old Adria which has come to the end of his days (broken front window, small electrical fire last year & lost the unique-sized skylight somewhere on the M5!) and have seen a 1994 Magenta which ticks most of my requirements. I do have a question which the seller could not answer and thought I would draw from your wealth of knowledge; does the central chest in the front of the van come off so the bed converts into a large double, or does it stay in place? Thanks for you time.

Hi vicki. I can't help you with your query, but if you repost in General or Buyers Guide you are likely to get more replies. Sorry to hear about the demise of your adria, but happy shopping for its successor.

Hi Vicki, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum and good luck with your replacement caravan.
I've never owned a Bailey up to yet but there are many happy Bailey owners who regularly use this forum and as Mel suggested, a post in the General section shouuld provide any information that you need.
Most caravans that I've owned with front beds have had removeable front chests and I have a feeling that the Bailey is no exception.

Hi Vicki
Bailey do not expect you to remove the front chest to make up the double bed. Where would you put it? It's quite heavy.
Beneath the chest is a pull out bed base, slats in my case. It's then a case of rearranging the cushions , hey presto a double bed.

Thanks for the advise and info about where to find the bed - knew it would make up as a double somehow! Having a final look at the Bailey this weekend to make sure everything works on battery & gas as well as mains before making a descision but compared to the Adria, it's luxurious!
