Luke,

I see what you mean on page 125 of the July PC mag, methinks thats thats whats called in the printing trade a typo error, what we call a **** up!

BTW, you won't be dissapointed in the ride improvement by having shockers fitted to your new van, had them fitted to my Series 5 Indiana, what a difference! no more being sucked into HGV,s or twitching as white van man thunders past! & every thing inside appears to remain where you left it!

GeorgeB, which hole on your Indiana chassis did you use for the shockers? I was told the middle hole was suitable.

Just read through the specs of the new Pageant on Baileys' web site and could find no reference to suspension. It does say an analogue clock is included - haven't been able to spot it in any of the pics yet though!

Martin i had a look in the two pagents i saw today and i did not notice any clock either, on a lighter note as i know i have a bad sense of humour at least i now know i have a clock in the senator that makes up for the shocks

Hi.

Indeed the new S7 Bailey Pageants come with a Al-Ko shock absorber fitted as standard at no extra cost. According to the guy at the place where we are getting ours from they are only being factory fitted as Al-Ko have supplied them to Bailey at either a very low cost or FOC. If my memory serves me correctly, he also said that they have been supplied in a similar way to Swift to be fitted to their vans also.

Apparently a motor mover cant be fitted to a van with shocks on? Can anybody throw some advice this way about that?

I hope you're wrong - otherwise we'll need to take the shock off!

I have shocks fitted to my series 6 Pageant and have a Reich mover fitted too, no problems.

There are some older movers that aren't compatible, original Carver ones I believe.

hi all

you can fit shocks to a van that has the carver mover on the alko chasis it is tight but possible.

mine has a gap between the mover motor and shock body of 10mm which is the recomended minimum but seems to work ok

I hope that I am wrong too! I love manouvering the van when attached to the car but its nice to know if things get a bit hairy you can get out and use the movers like you had planned too all the time!!

Just got back from viewing the Pageant Bretagne at Harringtons (now Discovery) near Chester and salesman confirmed shock absorbers are now fitted as standard. Looked all over the van and there was no clock and no where obvious to fit one!

Pointed out that we would be fitting a motor mover and while I didn't specifically query if this would be affected by the shocks at no time was I advised there would be a problem.

Liked the van - teak effect was not 'dark', just teak coloured.

I've got a Series 6 Pageant Provence fitted with a Powrtouch 3 motor mover and have just fitted shock absorbers. Apart from adjusting one of the motor units to increase the clearance (because one side had been fitted closer to the chassis than the other) and needing to use a ring spanner instead of a socket on the top outer mounting bolt of the shock absorber they are dead easy to fit - its the jacking up that takes all the effort. I hope to try them out this weekend

According to the Bailey brochure the S7 comes with a analogue clock. I am going to our dealer tomorrow to look further into a couple of things regarding the S7 Bretagne. Hopefully they will have another couple of vans in stock. I could be barking up the wrong tree here but I wonder if Bailey wanted to get the display vans out to the stockist before their holiday shutdown therefore making a decision not to fit them at that point.

I just realized the seamless transfer away from shock absorbers to clocks. Mmmm

Hi Dave

Did you buy your shockers direct from Al-ko or elsewhere?

I'm doing a retro fit on my S6 Wyoming which has a Powrtouch mover. Seems your mover wasn't a real problem so I should be ok.

I'm going for the blue ones.

Do they really make that much difference??

Cheers

Alan,

"Do they really make that much difference?"

Yes.

1. They are one of the seven legal requirements for Tempo 100 in Germany - the permission to tow at 100 kph rather than a restricted speed.

2. For years all? or most European caravans above 750kg have been fitted with shock absorbers

3. The AL-KO rubber torsion suspension is basically a poorly damped spring - the shock absorber controls bounce and rebound. if you've ever driven a car with a faulty shock absorber you wouldn't ask this question...

Then why aren't they standard on UK caravans? The end-user price for a pair of shocks is around

Thanks Robert

I'm going for it . What bugs me is that Bailey now fit them as standard on the Pageant series7.I guess that's progress but at least in the right diection.

Cheers

Alan
