Battery Charger

I hope I don't upset Colin but I had a problem with my new Abbey the last time I used it for a week on electrics. Do you need your battery charger on when using the mains? The blue light on the fridge started flashing after just over two days and I found that the battery state was in the red. I thought that if you were on the mains, your 12 volt systems would run through the converter. In the panic to keep the full freezer going I tried to run the fridge on gas but it would not light. On switching the 12volt charger on it all burst into life again. Is there a fault or do you have to have the charger on?

Allan, you have to have the battery charger switched on.

The only auto charging is from the car when towing.
