Battery charging while towing.

Has any one had experience of this. I have a 2008 Ford Mondeo and tow a 2002 Swift Corniche which I bought in March. We have been away 3 times for weekends to give it a few tests to CL sites. using battery power only. After towing it back home I found that the battery had the same charge in it as when I left the site. Through some investigation I found that the no 9 pin on the 13 pin factory fitted towing electrics was dead. So I took the car back to the Ford dealership who said the electrics were OK. I had the caravan tested, who said that was OK. I have had a neighbours car to test if the caravan was charging, and it was. So I think it must be the car that is at fault. Has any one had a problem like this or is it just me.

Thanks, David.

Apparently some manufacture fit 13pin sockets are not wired for the charging and fridge, just the road lights.

You must have the fridge output, both +ve and -ve, and the permanent supply output, to enable the battery to charge.
