Has anyone been to Seaview C.C site and Whitley Bay (Old Hartley)as we have booked 5 nights at each for Easter period but we have no knowledge of the sites or the area. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi Jim - we visited Seaview about ten years ago, and I am told it hasn't changed much since. From memory there are some flat/slightly sloping/heavily sloping pitches so take some chocks! Easy to access from major/local roads and walkable into Berwick. Some super views out to sea. Had an amazing fried pizza from local chippy!

So much to do around and about - Scotland/Northumberland - just research on the net.

Hope this helps

John

Hello Jim

We visited this site in the summer of 2003.Its quite a surprise when you arrive as it is situated in a fairly residential area of Spittal. The views of the Tweed estuary and out to sea are superb. There were alot of hardstandings and I would recommend these as most of the grass pitches were on a slope. The site is excellent for visiting surrounding areas and its only a 30 minute walk into Berwick or 10 minutes to quiet sandy beach at spittal (maybe not necessary at Easter!). We thoroughly enjoyed a full 2 weeks there and would visit again. The only drawback is if you pitch at the top of the site where most of the hardstandings are, there is a train track that runs behind a high wall. This didn't really bother us (we got used to it) but if you're a light sleeper it might disturb you.It still remains one of the best holidays we've had.

Hi Jim, we stayed at Seaview over Easter about 5 years ago I think. The views are very nice and there is a lot in the area if you dont mind a bit of driving. I seem to remember it getting a bit breezy as the site is exposed so remember to pack an awning tie down kit.

Martin.

Hi Jim,

We went to Old Hartley last year. The site slopes quite a bit so be prepared with some chocks. We had a pitch next to the fence overlooking the bay with views to die for.Usual first class CC facilities etc.Loads to do in the area, cliff top walks etc.

Can recommend the metro train to Newcastle and Alnwick castle and gardens are a must!.Light house in the bay is also worth a visit, which if you have a head for heights you can go up.

Only problem we had was that 7 days was not enough!!!

Hope this helps and enjoy your hols.

Regards Nidge.

We are going to Berwick in May and due to my interest in railways I'm glad to see the line mentioned, hope the walls not too high. Before that we are going to Low Manesty where I hope to see Red Squirrels. Last stop off is Bolton Abbey, going for 6 days at each place. Dont like wishing my life away but I cant wait to get back out in the van. We have 9 days in Cornwall in March to look forward to as well as some weekends before the May trip. :O)
