Maureen, coming from the North on the M5 it is best to join the M4 at Bristol to Junction 17 direction Chippenham. Follow the A350 in direction Warminster and on the Warminster bypass follow the A362 to the site. This is by far the quickest route of those available to you.

If you stay on the M5 south of Bristol you will be heading South West and moving away from the site, but if you do not want to go on the M4 then leave the M5 at Junction 23 and go via Glastonbury, Shepton Mallet, Frome and to the site in Warminster direction. If you use this route it is very slow. Ray

Hi Maureen, an alternative to Rays route, bearing in mind the M5 M4 junction is always busy at weekends, and there have been roadworks at the junction for a while, leave M5 at junction 14 turn left and follow signs for Chipping Sodbury, join A46 and stay on A46 southbound go over M4 at junction 18 follow signs to Bath, you will go down a long hill outside Bath, then follow signs for Warminster. Whichever way you choose the actual approach to the site is stunning, hope you enjoy your stay.

Certainly the M4/M5 junction can get busy but not had many problems.

The area around Bathampton that the A46 takes you to, to join up with the A36 can be far, far worse.

When driving solo you can avoid it by taking a Toll Bridge to the A36 from the A4 - I am not sure a caravan is allowed as it is narrow. Great pub on the south bank side of the bridge!

So if you are towing I think the A350 route that Ray suggests is far easier.

Maureen, i did this journey a year or two ago and found that the M5 M4 then A46 and follow the signs for Warmister the best. You go through the edge of Bath which is busy but wide and the traffic moves OK. Beware of the AA route which takes you through Bradford on Avon, nearer but very narrow and twisty, lots of mini islands. The site is wonderful and the park even better. (my first safari park and I was 59!)

Agree with my near namesake. Another possibility is to leave M5 at 11 and go via Cirencester and malmsbury to Chippenham which will cut off a corner and possibly avoid congestion near Bristol but probably will not gain any time.
