What sort of 'show offers' do you get at the caravan shows like the NEC in October?

We are in two minds whether to order a 2010 Swift Charisma 545 now for an October delivery with a part ex of our 2006 Abbey. This is with our local dealer who is trying to close the deal now reminding us that VAT likely to go back up in New Year and the value of our van obviously decreasing. Our original plan was to do a deal in the october NEC for March delivery as we don't use the van over the winter.

Any thoughts or advice?

Why not find out what price you can get your caravan for at the show which lasts for a week and then see if your local dealer will match it.

On a cautionary note don't forget that the dealers at the NEC may be some considerable distance from where you live and any price savings would be offset against the cost of travelling to the selling dealers for servicing and warranty work.

There is also the fact that you will have hopefully a good relationship with your local dealer.

The trade in price of your present caravan won't decrease between now and October and V.A.T. should be charged at the point of ordering so either way you shouldn't be affected.

Good Luck

We did almost exactly what Parksy suggests at last years show - we picked the van we wanted, and found the best deal that they were offering at the show.

We then contacted 5 x different dealers and asked them to come up with their best 'on the road price' for a March 09 delivery.

The results were surprising - not only was the cost a lot lower, but also the show 'offer' of a free tracker turned out to be a standard fitting anyway on the new model.

We were looking at a van that had a list price then of
