Big error in this month's magazine?

In the towcar test on p48 of the June magazine, it says "we were either on or just below the 110kph/68Mph speed limit for outfits with a gross weight over 3.5 tonnes"

Surely this is wrong? I thought the speed limit was 90kph for outfits where the car has a plated train weight over 3.5 tonnes.

according to the new restrictions,as I understand them. If you are towing any weight of trailor with a vehicle that has plated gross weight of over 3.5 tonn you are restricted to 90 kph

Maybe you could quote the magazine in your defence to the gendarme as he relieves you of your holiday euros.Last week we noticed in France a lot more fixed speed cameras than the previous year,and the motorcycle traffic police, who used to wave at you,now point a hand held speed camera at you!This was on the N roads,N10 & N1,didn't do a lot of auturoute driving.We were stopped in a routine check,along with several others of all nationalities, and he looked for 80/90 speed stickers(ours has a GTW over 3500Kg)and wanted to see our hi-viz vests, spare bulbs etc.You have been warned,they are out there collecting euros for the police retirement fund!!

The old rule that a vehicle legal in the country of origin is legal in the EU still stands, but convincing a roadside checkpoint of this is never easy. We've got a feature discussing all this in the September issue. I will get back to you to check what was in the issue
