Thinking of spending a week at this site in September, however a bit put off by some pitches being 50 meters away from hook up point.

Has anyone found this to ba a problem and any opinions on this site.

We've stayed there many times and have never had a problem. The pitches are in enclaves with hedges between. Hook up points are not in all pitches - you may have to slip round the hedge into next door to plug in.

We love the place. We email to book and they don't ask for deposits. They have a strange payment system - you pay on Tuesdays and on the day of departure. Very civilised.

The site is part of an enormous sports park, catering for everything from tennis(national game) to cycling and football. There's a large lake with a beach which attracts hundreds of locals on nice days. Bar and restaurant.

Very rare to see more than a couple of other brits on site.

We're off there on 12th May for two weeks+.

Have only been there once, but it is a great site when visited out of season, cheap, nice and very handy for the bus into town (but don't even consider using the bus without a ticket, every now and then a team of inspectors raids a bus at random, everyone on the bus was ok so I don't know what the penalty is.....)

The lake and general surroundings are lovely, and there always seems to be something going on.

When you arrive you will see a plan of the site on the back wall of the office. Make sure to ask for a pitch that requires a left turn as you enter the site. Some of the pitches to the right tend to be rather noisy as they are close to the City Ring. The restaurant on site is quite good, and they have a Bistro round the back where you can buy all sorts of snack-ish type meals and - above all - FRITES!

For my money Gent is better than Brugges - less Brits! If you are there on a Sunday make sure to go to the flower market in the Friday Marketplace (walk down the street at the side of McD's and turn left at the first tram-track junction. There is an animal/pet market on the other open area - can't remember what it is called but leave the square where McD's is up the side of the town hall, then take a street on the left near the end of the road. On the same street a little futher on is the St Jacobsplein (or something like that) where there is a huge antiques/junk market.

Beer round Gent is very good.
