Can anyone help?

I own a Lunar Delta 620/4 which has an MTPLM of 1600KG.

I am looking to change my towcar for the above but am getting conflicting data.

This web-site states that the maximum tow is 1500KG and a noseweight of 87KG.

I had an email from BMW as their brochure does not state a nose-weight and they tell me the nose-weight is 90KG. In addition the max tow is between 1800-2000KG dependant on vehicle spec.

Also if anyone tows something as big as my van with the above I would welcome their feedback. I am struggling to find a good match without spending £40K on a Disco!

According to the BMW website, the maximum towload of the 525d Touring is 2000kg (it doesn't quote a noseweight figure, though). Only the 2 smaller petrol engines and the saloon 520d have a 1800kg limit.

Hi Ian, I think a 525d will "suit you sir" very nicely, but watch out for nose weight. I am on my 2nd 530d and the first had the BMW standard fit Brink detachable tow bar with a noseweight of 90Kg. My current car didnt come with towbar so I bought the "Brink aftermarket detachable towbar" expecting the same thing. But it was slightly different and the noseweight on the plate says 75Kg. I really don't understand why as it uses exactly the same mounting points on the car! Not a problem for me personally but do watch out for this if you go for the Beemer!

You'll love it!

Oops, forgot to mention Ian that I tow a 1650 Kg MTPLM van and the car hardly notices it. 22-25mpg towing on normal/motorway and about 35-40 solo in normal driving/motorway cruising, calculated! (Don't believe the computer, its lies by adding 10-15%).
