Very alarmed today, put my 2005 Dethleffs DL540 in for service only to receive a call informing me axle so far out of alignment would need to be replaced!. Tyre wear on inside edge of both tyres extreme with nearside inside edge down to wire so mega out of alignment. As far as I know I have never kerbed it and neither wheel shows any sign of damage. Have any other forum users had wheel alignment problems with the single axle Vtec chassis?

The only way that such misalignment can happen is by kerbing or maybe a large pothole.
Unfortunately BPW chassis have welded stub axles , unlike Al-Ko which have replaceable stubs.
In your case it does indeed mean a new axle complete.

I'm trying to think how both sides are out? my Dad used to get this touring on the Continent, especially where tight hairpins were the order of the day, not the same type axle or anything wrong with it, but tyre scrub
Have they then checked your axle for correct alignment or making an assumption based on the tyre damage?

Yes Gary, they have checked both sides, nearside worse than offside. Really bad news is that delivery on replacemnt axle is 5/6 weeks which truly scuppers our month long trip to France!. Still at least I did not set off ignorant of the fact, says a lot for regular checks on your caravan.
