Hi

Posted a problem I had during my last outing , but it ended up in the new members section by mistake.

Would appreciate it if you could read it there, and post a reply here under the Technical section.

Regards

Is there any chance that when you braked that the caravan handbrake activated. I had a 2007 Brightstar and the handbrake was the sprung type that comes on automatically if you lift it slightly i.e. it has no ratchett type system. When the van braked and the coupling was depressed that the handbrake hit the coupling or Alko stabaliser and was forced on.

hi ray

thank you for your comment.

I'm not sure how my handbrake would operate under that conditions. I do know that it's either on or off with no ratcheting involved.

Alan, it is possible that when the hitch fully depressed under the harsh braking that it pushed back sufficiently to cause the handbrake to move slightly thus applying it. When you stopped round the corner was the handbrake lever up or in its normal released position?

Hi Ray

You've got me thinking about that!

I was in a bit of a panic at the time, and I really don't know what I did with the handbrake, or wether it was on, or I put in on !!!

Unfortunately, the only way I'll know for sure is if it happens again....GOD FORBID !!! but thanks for the suggestion.

Regards

Alan.
