Having had a new Front O/S Brake assembly ( Disc, Caliper, Pads and connecting pipes etc) fitted in France exactly 1 year ago.There has been no fault with this and everything is working OK - Just returned from 2250 miles towing in France.Whilst talking to my local Nissan Service manager, he told me that Discs should only be fitted in PAIRS - i.e. O/s & N/s together !Is this fact, or is he trying to pull a fast one ?Advice please.

Why did you have to have the work done in the first place ?
Has this all come about due to the MOT ?
Well considering that you have done over 2000 miles without a problem, is your service manager giving you specific info as why the other should be replaced at this moment in time ????
Does it brake ok in a strait line ?
Is there excessive wear on the disc that he says needs replacing ???
Is the disc & pads within working tolerance that he say's need changing ?
Has this all come about due to the MOT ?

Discs and brake pads should definately be changed in pairs. You'll normally experience some degree of pulling to one side at the start which may or may not lessen but wear rates would be different.

I would not replace one side in any event, but would like to know why only one side was changed.......Damian-Moderator said:

As pads come in pairs, what happened to the other set? I agree that when it comes to brakes, disc and pads should be replaces in pairs
what I don't understand is why they replaced the disc and pads one side for anyway?
If the calliper needed replacing for whatever reason why did they feel they had to change the disc and pads on that side, usually you just refit a new calliper and job done not replace everything on that side.
