Does anyone know how much heat (Therms, calorific value or any relative heat measure?) you would get out of a 15kg Butane bottle compared to a 13kg Propane bottle. The bottles are the same size and I am assuming you would get less from the propane bottle.

I have just changed to propane for the winter and am wondering the merits of changing back in the spring.

Apologies for answering my own question but others might be interested

I found this almost straight away on the calor website

"Commercial Propane = 13.83 kWh/kg

Commercial Butane = 13.62 kWh/kg"

Which I have just worked out taking different bottle weights and prices from Calor means that Propane is appx 3% more expensive to run on then Butane.

This means I will not bother changing back in the spring, I thought the difference might be more.

Hello Garry,

You may find that you can obtain Propane from other suppliers which might redress the the small cost disadvantage.
