C&CC - Woodhall Spa / Kendal

Can anyone tell me what these sites are like please? We hope to visit in June. Kendal is just a stop to break the journey from the North of Scotland.

The write up in the C&CC book makes them both sound good and we found the community website for Woodhall Spa very interesting but there's nothing like a personal viewpoint. We look for good toilets and showers, nice scenery and if possible a pub with food not too far away. I have balance problems and find walking can sometimes be very difficult and tiring.

Hi April, we have been to the Woodhall Spa C&CC site a couple of times and we like it. The site has two areas, one being in the woods where the pitches are on hardstandings, and the other area is grass pitches. The facilities are in the middle, we don't use them, but the block looks fairly new, and would expect them to be club standard, the site also has a pond, where there are ducks and other wildlife. The whole area is surrounded by a nature reserve, so nice and peaceful. I have to say the dog walk is poor, but plenty of walks off site.

Woodhall Spa is a very nice small town, it has good shops and a small supermarket. There's quite a good pub where they serve decent food. There is also a pub at Kirkby on Bain, which is within walking distance of the site.

we stayed at kendal last year ,the site is sloping so you will need chocks,the toilets block was small but usual good clean standard.no pub near by but a morrisons is about 1/2 mile away .

you can walk through a farm and a few feilds to get to the shops but kendal is a 1. 1/2 miles away,with plenty of pubs.

Your comments are much appreciated and very useful. We always have chocks with us but no dogs!

We like to eat out a few times whilst on holiday, the best bit of "self-catering" is that it can easily be no catering!

We stayed at Woodhall Spa 18months ago - Site is lovely however we found the wardens would have prefered an adult only site. We found they were not child friendly

Dog walk is small we found it much better to walk up the road untill we found a bridal path.

The pitches can flood during heavy downpours but does drain well.

Our main complaint was with the wardens. They had allocated our pitch to new caravanners even before we had vacated the site ( when it was not full)

We've encountered that sort of wardens too at some sites. It makes you wonder why they do the job. Plans are to book tomorrow, June is usually OK for vacancies.
