Calor Propane Gas/Camping Gaz - France

We're shortly going to France for an extended holiday and we're just thinking about our gas requirements. We currently have two Calorlite propane cylinders on board but we're thinking about leaving one of those at home and taking a Camping Gaz butane cylinder as the second bottle so that we can (a) use it with the Cadac and (b) replace it in France if necessary.

Can anyone advise what we would need in terms of regulators etc to make this workable?

We do this and simply carry the adaptor tap shown under number 01-6010/01-1665 on this web page

http://www.gaslow.co.uk/pages/products/list_1.htm
Under the "International Connections"

[The part is actually 01-1665]

These are available at most accessory shops.

This converts the Gaz bottle to the same left had thread as a Calor 4.5 Butane.

In our case our 30mB regulator has this thread so the Gaz connector screws straight on after we remove the propane adaptor.

If yours is not that simple then if you have a modern van you will also need to buy a "Butane" pigtail hose [01-6010] to link this Gaz adaptor to your regulator in place of your propane pigtail.

If its an older van with a free-standing propane regulator you will need to buy either a regulator that fits directly to the Gaz bottle or onto that same Gaz connector identified above.

Many thanks for this JTQ. Carol
