I think the caravan club should charge a 50% deposit at the time of booking which is non refundable. This would stop all the block booking. In theory you could book every site on every weekend ,and then just cancel them at your leisure.

I think this is a crazy situation.Anybody agree?

Hi Richard,

My understanding is that, no you couldn't book every site for every weekend as the C.C. has a system in place to prevent members from even booking two sites on the same dates, at least with on line bookings.

I would agree to a deposit but think 50% is too high.

It certainly appears to be a problem at popular sites.

In early August we were planning a trip to the New Forest in September, but found that the CC site was fully booked for the whole month.

We decided to delay booking and take a chance on a commercial site near the time.

So people had block booked and cancelled at the last minute.

This does make forward planning difficult.

I would support a deposit system, but suggest it should be transferable to another site booking within, say, 4 weeks.

However there were quite a few pitches available. The warden said they were still fully booked. The general agreement was that a

Went to a large commercial site in Devon beginning of July, (against my better judgement, but you know what family pressure is like!!!)they needed a
