Caravan Club Certificated Locations

I know it is impossible for The Caravan Club to print a picture of all its CL's in the Directory, but when on getting further details of a CL from their website, surely more CL owners can include a photo, as some (but very few) do.

It's frustrating when you enter details of a CL you're interested in, expecting to find a photo of it, only to find a blank space where a photo could be. It's much more meaningful when details appear with a picture of the site.

Sometimes the owner has a website of their own and sometimes, with a bit of hunting around, you can find a picture elsewhere, but it would be nice for all CL's to have a photo on the CC website.

Google maps/satellite can sometimes give an indication of what a site/c.l. is like.

Once got excited about an overnight stop in Belgium - the photos on the web looked great - Google showed it to be next to a scrap yard ! Ho hum.

I also use Mike E's method of searching out the site and locality via Google's aerial views.

I find that the competitor " http://maps.live.com/ " sometimes gives a better, more detailed image for locations where they have their "birds eye view" pictures.

As he said it can be quite revealing showing things the owner might not chose to point his camera at!

Hi

I belive there is a dvd available which shows the cl's. I cannot remember the name of the supplier, but if you email the caravan club they will have the name.

They had emailed me the name but I seem to have deleted it:

I too use google maps, you can even tell which way the slope runs by weather the caravans are a all pointing one way or another.

The thing that really gets me is when a CL lists an e-mail address so you send an e-mail & they don't reply! If they don't want to deal on line WHY suppy an address! {rant over - sorry}

I agree with meals on wheels, surely the CC could include some photos of CL's, I can't believe in this day and age, they don't do that.

I do a live search or google map and do ariel views of any cl's which gives you an idea where it's located etc.

Armcher productions are ok, you can visit their webiste and download a clip for 50p, so you don't have to buy the dvds, although the company doesn't have a massive collection. They show you the drive in too which is good because some sites in Cornwall look great, then you find you have to drive down a really narrow track for some distance. I nearly booked a site which looked fabulous on the CL's owners website. I downloaded the Armcher clip and I'm glad I did, the cl was more or less in the owners front garden and the toilet advertised was in their house.

Hi

I have found Google to be the best, so far.

maps.live.com is somewhat out of date.

There has been a new house built behind mine for 4 years but it still shows the vacant ground.
