Am I the only one that likes a relaxing weekend with my caravan, get up, walk the dog have breakfast, then go for a shower, however, all the CC sites I have been to shut up thier toilets at 10.30 - 11.30 to clean them, just when I and many other people want to use them before going out. I am not complaining at the standard they have all been spotless, and I know, if I know they close at 10.30, go before I have breakfast but I just think 10.30 is a bit early to clean them, wish they cleaned them a bit later. However, I bet there is a good reason why anyone know.

Probably so it's all finished and clean before it gets busy with the arrivals at midday. That is for those who follow the rules and don't arrive a few hours early to get the best pitches ;O)

It's not like they shut them at random or change the time every day. How hard is it to make sure that you have "been" before cleaning time. I thought it was only toddlers who left it until the last minute.

Diane, as a new member to the caravan world, I thought this forum was to ask questions to things you don't now or need advice on, as I said there was proberbly a good reason for the toilets being cleaned so early, if all you get is sarcastic comments to questions from members I am maybe one the wrong forum site

Come on Peter grow up. Dianne is probably stating what many people are thinking as we all use the sites regularly, and do not seem to have any problems. The wardens or more to the point the Assistant Wardens have many chores to complete, the Loo Block being probably one of the less pleasant. They publicise the times clearly and often allow for 'emergencies' by using the Disabled Loo.

Nobody is suggesting you get up at the crack of dawn, although some do, but the vast majority find 9 am a reasonable time to allow for contemplation of the forthcoming day's activities.

By the way, the Forum does try to be as helpful as possible, but commonsense also has a part to play. Having a sense of humour and a thick skin also helps.

Hi Peter,

When we worked for the C&CC we cleaned the blocks at 1030 till 1130 then lunch for 30 mins then we dealt with the 1200 rush, and then they were checked about every hour or so to keep them in good order.

In recent years our caravans have had toilet and shower, if the site facilities are busy or being cleaned we use the caravan facility.

Some people might like to walk their dogs and shower at 11am.

When away relaxing in the caravan is to difficult to relax from routine and fit ablution time around the sites routine?

We've been and go to many sites that have sparkling clean facilities that are never closed for cleaning. The cleaners clean sections around the customers without any problems or the facilities are split in on some sites so why can't CC do the same and then everybody would be happy!

Charmouth C&CC site which we have just visited have 2 toilet blocks. 1 was closed in the morning then the other in the afternoon. Makes good sense to me. Quite handy also as they always have one open.

The same can't be said for other sites though which only have 1 block and no alteratives. I still don't think it takes 1 hour to clean either. Maybe it takes an hour for floors to dry for health and safety purposes?

Dan.

The closed between 10:30 & 12 rule really bugs me the day we leave sites. There we are, caravan all packed up, toilet emptied & water system drained. Van hitched up to car all ready to hit the road except we could all do with the loo before we set off for home & i wanna wash my dirty hands after handling the steadies/hitch/stabiliser etc. I think mid afternoon would be a better time to close toilets.

Hi Peter,

You will probably find that the cleaners also have lots of other jobs to do. From experience it is better to have a timed routine for each task ( it gets everything done, otherwise people complain ). To be fair to them, cleaning at the same time each day makes it much easier and as L.B says midday arrivals also mean busy times. Ah and I have just thought of another reason for morning cleaning. What if you arrive at midday, booked in,pitched up, ( having driven goodness knows how many miles ) and needed to use the loo, only to find that the loos are being cleaned in the afternoon. So there are many reasons why they clean them in the mornings.

I hope that's been helpful and please keep posting.
