Intend going to France with just the car in July (not taking the caravan) quote direct from Brittany Ferries including cabin going out was £482 tried the Caravan Club but there quote was exactly the same at £482. Have tried a couple of other cheap ferry web sites - all quote the same. I thought the Caravan Club would have had some discount even allowing for the fact that the booking is in the busy period. (going out on July 14 and back on the 24 July). Is this the norm ?

Often you can get a discount with the Caravan Club Sometimes these discounts are better if you book sites, or buy Camping Cheques through them - but their on-line system doesn't appear to be working too well at the moment. Did you phone or get a quote on the website?
Camping Cheques were offering free caravans on some Brittany Ferries sailings - and I know a few people have saved quite a lot of money - but they were towing. It might be worth giving them a ring to get a quote even though you're not taking the caravan. 01580 214002. The offer includes you buying three Camping Cheques, which would cost £42.00 but may save you more than this - and you could always offer the Camping Cheques up for sale on here to get an even better deal.
