Moggie, they are both very good and broadly offer the same services. Any difference is usually in general ambience and the 'feel' of the thing. My advice is usually to join both to begin with (if you can afford it). Most people begin to find they feel slightly more at home with one or the other and then decide which they want to stay with for the long term. In our case it was the C&CC, but it doesn't mean we think those who belong the Caravan Club have made the 'wrong' decision - just that they have made the decision that is right for them.

Moggie, the other thing to bear in mind is that the Caravan Club is geared up solely for Caravanners, whereas the C&CC caters for all types of outdoor living enthusiasts.

With this in mind, the CC sites are probably better set out for caravans.

I have been a member of both clubs, but have opted to stay with the CC as their sites suit my needs better.

We are members of both clubs, but mainly use the CC sites as they suit us better. Having said that, they do not allow tenters so when our kids decide they want to spend a weekend with us in their tent(s) we use the C&CC. It all boils down to your personal requirements. As suggested above, it would be adviseable, if funds permit, to join both clubs and make up your own mind.

Hi everyone, Following this thread it occurred to me that I have seen tents on CC sites. I think it was last May that we were up at Clumber Park and there were 3 tents positioned on a grassy area between two hard standings. Both 'vans were obviously together and the children were spread among the tents. Thinking further, I seem to remember this sort Of arrangement at Pembrey Park CC site last August. Please don't get me wrong, I have no objection to this and hasten to add that in both these instances the tents did not infringe upon other pitches. As they were all more substantial than pup tents I was wondering if the CC wardens turned a blind eye to this or perhaps it is even allowed. Comments? best Wishes, George T.

I am amazed that tents can be allowed to pitch between caravans. Surely this infringes the fire regulations on club sites. I have seen small tents erected to the rear of caravans, on occasion, but these were used to accommodate chairs, tables, dogs, etc.

Also used to accommodate wives who don't behave :)
