I have just stayed at Abbbey wood beautiful site but the wifi was £5 for an hour and had to be used in 72 hours no mention on the card .no other options were available through them.

I didnt realise(although it does say in the information room but not when you buy the voucher .Last year I bought a week for £20.Ke zone the provider still do this card but not apparently the caravan club .

It is cheaper to connect to the Wifi than pay for the club card ,I may purchase mobile broadband as I was unable to look up places of interest on line without paying the caravan club an excessive fee.

A lesson learned

What a rip-off.

Mc Donalds restaurants provide free Wi-Fi and it usually works in their car parks too!! I've used this in the UK and France.

The charge for wi-fi access on CC sites is far too high. I'm sure that if a more reasonable pricing structure were to be introduced there would be a much higher usage.

This should be regarded as a service to members rather than a profit making exercise.

If you feel the same way contact the CC expressing your opinion and let's see if something can be done about it.

Hi Andy

Being retired and spending lots of time caravanning (37 nights so far this year) I did a lot of research on the various options available, and I think that I have found the best wi-fi deal going,

The Caravan Club have just announced a second generation WiFi being installed at a number of sites and it looks as if they will gradually roll it out to more sites. Costing is different as well. Under the new scheme

I have read all the comments regarding wifi on camp-sites in the UK and find it typical of the United Kingdom anyway to make money.

Whilst in Austria last year I connected to the internet with my IPhone and it was free all you had to do was agree that you would allow the internet provider to supply you with advertising once you said yes you could use the net and roam for free.

what was also good about it you didn't even notice the free advertising anyway no more than in England.

Why don't the UK providers take a lesson from the Austrians

With reference to John's comment about vodaphone dongles. I have one of those and it works well, even in a remote area with a poor signal - but very slow - but useful. I am still on my first

Without doubt the Caravan Club wi-fi charges are far too high, and they have been told so by many members on numerous occasions. The problem is, like many organisations, with something they don't know anything about they buy in expertese and finish up with something that is very expensive and makes a lot of money for different groups, with the end user footing the bill.

I too have gone the Vodaphone dongle route, and will not touch any wi-fi set up that costs more than a couple of pounds a week. The CC should remember that my own personal, private, individual wi-fi installed in my home costs less than that so why should a mass-market system be any more expensive?

Recently, I spent a weekend at Warren Park in Breen Sands, Somerset, and they had free wi-fi all day long.

So come on Caravan Club, pull your finger out!

Brailleman, I think you made an error of 1,000X for your Orange Mobile Broadband option. It looked so good I just checked and if it is the 'Racoon' option the monthly allowance is only 500MB (not GB!) Anything over that is charged at 5p per MB, or

I also use the VodaFone dongle but sadly have had little success with it on the CC sites I've visited.

At the moment I'm staying in a bungalow just above St. Austell and surprisingly am getting a 2.5 mbps download speed.

The price of

Several people seem to have trouble with reception of Broadband WiFi on sites so can I give you a tip I've used with some success.

I bought a 3 metre extension USB lead and put the dongle inside a plastic Coke bottle via a slit in the side. The base of the bottle is filled with a couple of inches of gravel for stability, and the whole lot is put on the roof via the rooflight. It's completely waterproof and gives much improved reception.

And as regards the CC wi-fi charges,
