Hi Annie,
I looked at buying a caravan cover a few years ago but never got round to actually buying one, more recently I have had another look around different forums to see who was recommending what and just as importantly what manufacturers were getting bad reports.
If it's advice you're looking for then based on what I have read online over the past week or so then that advice is going to be pretty contradictory. Those that are pro covers will tell you they are they best thing since sliced bread, just take the cover off and your van is in pristine condition and ready to go, never any condensation problems, no marking of windows or paintwork, absolutely brilliant, Scroll down the same thread and you will come across the anti cover brigade, the covers caused condensation and mould problems inside the van, windows and paintwork marked, covers themselves ripped in strong winds.
Then just to confuse it a bit more the pro cover people then split into two camps regarding what type of cover to buy. You have the supporters of the more expensive made to measure covers from the likes of Protec or Specialised Accessories, cost around £400 per cover depending on caravan size obviously, they will tell you that you only get what you pay for and that the cheap ones are rubbish and will not last any length of time, fit badly and flap about. But then the followers of the cheaper universal type covers will come along and say they are every bit as good as the more expensive ones, that they are made of the same material and last just as long.
The only consistent points I could find were that the covers could be difficult to fit in anything other than very still days, breezy at all and it was a bit of a struggle ( no doubt now someone will come along and say that fitting in a breeze is easy and the wind actually helps the cover on!) and that don't expect any of them to last forever. Seems the UV degredation effects them and 3 or 4 years seems to be the best life span quoted ( again no doubt someone will be along to tell how they have had theirs since 1990).
Protec and Specialised Accessories will, or at least used to, send out material samples on request, dont know about the other manufacturers. Might be of some interest to you.
If you have a look through the other caravan forums you will read the varied reactions to caravan covers. Personally I am just going to leave it just now, not convinced either way.
