Yet another thing for me to find out, I have never had one but my neighbour bought one from Boatworld, price about £70 its gigantic and covers the whole caravan including the hitch. At the time he ordered for a 21 ft. Two years on and apart from a tear from his front top rail it still looks good . The material is strange its not plastic but feels cotton like .Anyway looking on the web some people say it should be white underneath to stop staining other type covers are one colour and you pay for what you get, so it seems covers are not 100% waterproof is that because it breaths?. Any comments on what you have would be appreciated.Thanks.

We bought a very cheap one from ebay, breathable fabric, white inside, green outside, and it works very well. It's been on more than a year now, and has stood up to wind, rain and snow. The caravan is just as clean when we uncover it as it was when we covered it up, and no straps/zips/fabric has torn, apart from one small corner where the rough end of an awning rail wore through it. We've now padded the ends of the awning rail, prior to covering the van, and have had no similar problems.
I think we paid £58.00 for ours (depends on the length of your van), but I think it's been worth it already - in fact its probably saved half of that in cleaning materials/black streak remover/polish, etc., that we haven't needed to use.

The cover I had some years ago was a realygood fit and well made. However, it took two of us to fit it and we had to wait for a flat calm day, otherwise we would have been shot down as being in unauthorised air space from the nearby Yeovilton RNAS.
It was also quite difficult to pad the ends of panel joining strip and anything sharp before fitting, and we eventually decided that a good waxing - but not polishing off - and a quick hose down before we went off for the winter was probably a better deal. I was also a bit unhappy about the cover moveing in the wind - inevitable - and rubbing over the windowns.

I think a well know brand of 'over winter' treatment might be worth a go, so I'm about to try it.

Apart from personal pride the overall condidition of the van after 5 or 6 years is not going to change the trade in value too much unless it's completely horrible.

I have had Specialised Accessories covers for the last two vans and I cannot fault them whatsoever, I have also bought on of their front/towing covers as a stone cracked one of the front windows whilst abroad. If and when we change our current van I shall certainly buy another one of their covers. They might be expensive, but they are very good.
