Caravan Lay Out

For some time now my Wife and I have wondered why some caravan manufacturers have most of the heavy items in a caravan on one side of the van. In our Bessacarr Cameo 495SL we have the following items on the offside. Water Heater,battery, fridge,cooker,micro wave, shower, table in storage, toilet. On the nearside of the van we have the heater!

This may appear to be a strange question, however given we are told to load our vans to keep the van stable, it appears strange that our van for example has all the heavy fixed items on one side.

Hi Russell,

We are new to caravanning and, having been to prepare our 'van this afternoon I was thinking the very same thing - the battery, cooker and fridge are all on the same side!

So, I took the mains and TV hook-up leads out of the wet locker (also the same side) and put them in the bottom of the wardrobe (other side) and the aquaroll and wastemaster wenr in the bathroom (other side) and I carried on like that - trying to keep everything over the axle but biased towards the offside.

I was wondering how much of an issue it was because side-to-side balance never seems to be mentioned - so thanks for bringing it up!
