Hi Lance. We have only had our caravan since April and it quickly became apparent that we needed a mover as we live on a hill on quite a narrow street and we were just physically not capable of manhandling it back onto the drive by ourselves. We found a local, mobile caravan servicer who fit us a powrtouch remote control mover for

I agree with Mags & Alan.

Although my yard is level, towing access off the busy road is so awkward for a novice like me that it's a nightmare. I don't need nightmares.

With the mover, it's a doddle -- perhaps even a pleasure.

Even for an expert, I'd say investing in a mover is well worth considering. Also for parking on a site. Who knows what conditions you might find there?

And you can transfer it to your next van, of course.

Hi Lance

I also live on a 1 in 4 hill up from the main road and could not own a caravan without the "mover".

A gem when on site as well in order to place the caravan "just so" for levelling and for fitting the Al-Ko wheel lock.

Recently in Devon with water logged ground and where others were stuck in the mud my Power Mover just inched me out onto the roadway for hitching up.

I would not be without one and thoughly recommend them

I totally agree

I have a large Compass Rallye with a Powrtouch Model 3 with electric roller engagement.

My wife recently had surgery on her spine meaning that she can no longer assist in the push-pull to get the caravan exactly where you need it, without the mover we would have had to sell the caravan, with it it's easy and actually good fun moving it about.

They are expensive but well worth it - definately wouldn't be without one

Lance, we've got one for tight manouvering on the driveway but rarely use it on site, reversing in is less faff. However, we got Powrtouch to price match against a purple mover thingy and got it all fitted for about

Hi Lance

we've got a Trauma SE fitted to our van and its worth the money (to us anyway).

I live on a busy main road and the drive has a slight slope (not much but enough)I use the mover to turn the van on the drive and hitch up to the car as I couldn't do it on the road.

Also I cant reverse onto the drive (due to how busy the road is)when we get home so its crucial for moving the van into its parking place on the drive (I'm lucky I have a large drive and can fully pull off the road with enough roon to then possition the van).

I also have to admit I'm useless at reversing so I'll use the mover to fine tune the van on site.

The SE is fully automatic and takes about 1 minute to get activated and the rollers in place ready to use.

I dont go in for faffing around , if there's an easy way to do things I'll do it.

For me worth the money

Lance,

I've been towing since the mid 60's so I'd like to think that I'm pretty expert at reversing the van, however, bought a new van in Nov 06 & had a Powrtouch mover fitted, IMHO it's the best bit of kit I've ever bought in all the years I've been caravaning!

It's now a race as to who gets the remote first, damn it she's quicker than me!!!!!!

It's got to be the easiest way to move a ton & a half of van ever! you can position it precisely, inch it out of as soggy pitch, back it up a slope with impunity, etc. etc. the list is endless!

If you're still comtemplating getting one.................just do it! you'll not regret it for 1 moment

"It should allow the less able to take up caravanning, it should allow people to continue caravanning even when they cannot physically move a caravan by hand, and it should help people who have difficult access or storage locations to move their caravan easily and safely' These were the design principals that John Carver told me about when he was developing the first mover.

Sadly he died in 1999, but I know he would be pleased to see the extent to which people now rely on the mover principal even if they are rival units.

Hi Lance,

I agree with the others. I had a mover fitted 5 years ago on my then single axle van, you could turn it in it's own length. It rekindled my enthusiasum for caravanning, as I have a bad back so can't pull and push. Switched to a twin axle, Senator Wyoming, and had a Truma fitted. I use it mainly to position the van and level van on blocks when necessary and hitch up to the car. Before I had a mover I damaged my car by reversing into the hitch. That will never happen again. Now we have a Compass Rallye T/A and the dealer switched it across from the old van. It is worth every penny, go for it.

Hi

They are a boon. But I got quite excited when I had finished installing mine and knowing someone was coming to collect something from the garage I moved the caravan onto the front lawn facing in. Oh dear, it rained and rained for days and the vans wheels descended 4 inches into the lawn. Facing the wrong way I couldn't attach the car and the mover couldn't cope with the 'holes'. Took a lot out of me and the family getting it out again! The jockey wheel also ploughes a narrow trench so I will make my own skid. This would have been embarassing anywhere else but this SillyBilly will stand the wheels on plates in future.

Hi Lance. I traded my old van in last year and the new one already had one fitted. Fantastic piece of kit! Helps when I put the van on the drive, I can get it within an inch of the wall safely, plus the drive slopes down to the street so no pushing. Definitely recommend!

Last time I put the van on the drive a bloke walking his dogs stopped and watched, 'Bl***y Hell' he said, 'A remote controlled caravan. Now I've seen it all!'. Made my day!!

Hi

We had a powrtouch mover fitted to our caravan just after May BH. Our drive is easy to reverse onto but a very sharp right towing off, also at storage our van is in the middle of a row, and the site slopes quite a bit. Mover was fitted to the van on the drive while hubby was at work. I'm the one who now guides the van into position etc. Spring BH at Hillhead cc site meant no concerns about getting onto pitch. Some pitches at Hillhead are tight to get on. Using the mover is a doddle.

We got ours new and fitted off e bay, company based in Preston area but do travel to fit in other areas, we live in Shropshire.

Hope this helps

Annette
