There are regulations that specify the lighting on motor vehilces, I cant quote them, but I belive they relate light output in terms of the equievelent incandecent filament bulb Wattages. Rear side lights are 5W and brake lights are 21W

So if you fit 'replacement' bulbs they should produce the equivelent light output, so you should not see any difference, how ever LED bulbs will use subtantially less electrical power for the same light output.

Just a note, if you car has automatic bulb failure warnings, some do know whn a trailer is connected and cover the trailer as well. as LRD bulbs use much less power they may show up on your failure panel even though they are working correctly.
