NO.
The recommended time limit was raised to 7 years some time ago, providing they are in good condition, no cracking, or bulges or separation between the treads.

The time limit recommendation has always been 7 years from date of manufacture - the 5 years recommendation, which still applies comes from the amount of time that a tyre may spend in the supply chain at manufacturer, distributor, caravan manufacturer and caravan dealer before actually being sold as "new" - which can easily be 12 months sometimes much longer.

Remembering that all tyres have a 4 digit date code (Wk-YY)

Hello All...DO be very careful over inspection of your caravan tyres, I inspect mine regularly but it was only after my mobile service engineer pointed out slight cracking that I realised just how wary you have to be. The faint cracks were almost hidden by the moulding line quite near to the wheel rim. A tyre swap is now scheduled for the beginning of next season. Incidentally my van was bought in November 2008 and the wheels are removed and stored in bin liners in my garage over the winter.
Check them and please stay safe
Regards
Derek

Caravan bought in November 2008? Then the tyres need replacing even if they appear perfect - as they're over 5 years old.

You are wrong.
The time limit was raised to 7 years quite while ago, providing they are in good condition.
It goes without saying that the time limit is determined by the date code on the tyre.

Nothing has changed - the recommendation, it's not a limit, has always been 7 years from date of tyre manufacture - but allowing for time in stock at tyre wholesalers, caravan manufacturers before assembly and at dealers awaiting sale, then 5 years from caravan purchase is a reasonable time to change.

this approach seems to relate only to new vans not ones that are older than their first set of tyres! My current tyres which are infinitely superior to the OEM tyres and higher load index were less than three months old when fitted.
