Sounds as though the overtemp thermostat has tripped and needs reseting. You need to reach over the back to the left hand side to find it, it's 9" down and 7" back from the top left corner of the fire

Has it got a reset switch then? can you feel the flap move at all or is it solid?

Early batches in 95 did not have the reset but a 'one shot' thermal fuse, this simply blows and need replacing but using a reset switch kit.

(unlike the guy in this month PC I might add that fixed his thermal fuse, cheap if you can do it but it's only going to blow again)

Anyway even with the thermal fuse, the outline of the flap is still there just not cut out so doesn't actually move.

If it has indeed got a reset then mains power is not getting to the Fanmaster, you will need to trace the circuit back to find out why

It should have an isolation switch that's fused at 10A or 13A, if it has a red light and it's lit the fuse is ok.

I got the same message John and having wrote that reply and thinking the same as you, I was not a happy bunny until the post appeared!

97 vans should have a reset, a test is if you tap the flap with your finger tip, you can get the flap to bounce enough to be sure it's cut out.

Another possible I've known is the reset falls to bits?!

Difficult to any advice about a battery, in general while on hook up it doesn't matter if a battery is fitted, the charger/12v power supply will happily cope without a battery at all.

Can you not borrow a battery first?

Hi Gary

Just looked at your pic

Its a coincidence but I have one of those covers on the bench in the garage from when I changed it for the reset button over 10 years ago

I had the first Fanmaster kit that my dealer had for retro fit and thought that it was brilliant after gas only heating

It fell out of the spares box

The things we keep !!

Not sure if i can help due to the different heating setups.

Have you checked for 240volt at the heater its self?.

I would expect my heater to work on convection, with or without a battery.

in order to help i need feedback.

For example my system has a three heat switch and thermostat.

Without knowing your system i cant be of much help.

Fault finding is achieved by understanding how the system should work, if possible.

Then carrying out a logical test procedure.

Sometimes a common fault will enable a guess to take you directly to the problem.

Gary

I thank you for all ur help so far im not off work till week end and i will try a few things then.

To let u know i had similar problem last season with same van. I didnt have battery fitted then so i bought 1 it seemed to do the trick i told dealer this and he also said it should have no bearing on whether heater heats or not. All its doing @ the mo is blowing cold air. Gr8 if i get a good summer lol but here in ireland thats highly unlikely lol.

I try to keep u informed again many thx

John
