Hi

The Carver Crystal Fileter on my van appears to be jammed. I have tried with all my might to twist it off but it seems stuck fast. Does anybody have any tips for trying to remove it?

The reaso n for needing to get it off (aprt from having to change it) was that the cold water pressure is very low - the hot water is fine. Would the filter be a likey cause?

Thanks

If you have an adjustable spanner and a mole grip or similar, adjust the adjustable so that it fits the web of the filter snugly then use the mole on the adjustable to turn it.

You could try warming the filter with a hairdryer at the same time.

When refitting, use a smear of silicone grease or olive oil on the sealing ring and only tighten hand tight, just enough to stop it leaking. DO NOT tighten with any tools!!!!

As for pressure, it may help a little but more likely is build up of calcium salts in the tap spout filters.

Thanks for that - I'll give it a go. I've just noticed something else that is the more likely cause for the pressure loss.

When the cold taps are on, a huge amount of water comes out from what appears to be an overflow type pipe that is connected to the cascade water heater. (a red pipe that exits under the van)

Any reason as to why this may be gushing out? Is there a switch I need to turn?

(sorry for the ignorance this is my first caravan!)

The pipe you refer to is a water drain and should have a red stopper to fit it somewhere with the equipment in your van, looks like a mushroom, stem and round flat end.

Without it you are just pouring water away and will never be able to run the system properly.

Look here:http://www.east-coast-leisure.co.uk/modules/shop/products.asp?catid=19&rangeid=184&cat='Push%20Fit'

Look at the End Plug

Thanks Damian - This definitely seems to be the case! Can I just bung it with any means as a temporary measure?

fyi the adjustable grips worked a treat on the filter - thanks for that!

If it has a push fit fitting on the end, which it should have, just remove that first and use anything that wil fit inside the tube and a jubilee clip to hold it.

Thanks Damian, you've been a great help.

One more tick on my list of jobs! Now onto the cassette toilet which has no electric flush - lets hope it's the fuse!!

thanks for the toilet info - I'll look at it now.

I've successfuly bunged the water drain and it's not leaking at all but the water pressure on the cold taps is stil very poor.

When you turn the taps on you get maybe a second of good pressure before it dies off. The hot pressure is great. Any thoughts on where to look next?

Many Thanks

Hi,

I have the same problem.

I have Lunar Eclipse and the pressure seems OK for a few moments and then disappears to a weak dribble, it's just usable in the kitchen and washroom , but the shower is such a pathetic dribble as to render it useless.

Did you get a reply to this??

If so can you , or anyone else help.

I've been told by a knowable friend it might be the pressure switch... or the pump, but a pump assmebly will cost newarly
