hi

electric fanmaster switch is blinking and theirs no electric fan.

no electric heat and fan.

is their any way of checking this anbd that, so i can identify the problem, ive been in at it and taken the fan motor out, but i noticed that the wall switch with the rotating wheel was bit wobbly.

also bthe electric fan seemed to cut off too soon before van was warm enough, as if thermostat wasnt functioning

where is the thermostat in a fanmaster, van is 98 northstar and fire is carver 3600.

thanx

iain,laura

First reason for the led blinking slowly after flashing fast initially during the 'self check' is low battery, if the battery voltage is ok then it's found a pcb control fault.

Another possible is, the control switch and control board both have microchips which need to talk to each other for the self check. I've known the tracking on the switch to be burnt out due to an overload, this will prevent the communication but the LEDs can still work if it's the earth track blown.

The overload if on the positive side is a Fanmaster fault, if negative though the likelihood is the fault will be a bad earth elsewhere using the Fanmasters circuit as a route to earth and more prevalent in motorhomes

Overall though the most common reason for all this is a worn fan motor overloading the main control pcb and both need replacing

have noticed the fan motor getting noisey last couple of years,

is their any way i can check these problems, maybe with a meter.

also been looking on net about probs and this is common for pcd and motor,,

also very expensive

There's your answer, noise equals worn and worn motors overload the control board, I would think yours now needs both replacing.

The thermostats sensor is at the side of the fan measuring the air temperature being drawn into the housing

I don't know what you call expensive but I'll fully overhaul a mk1 Fanmaster and return it with a 12 month warranty for
