Hi

Just wondering has anybody been away for Xmas with a young family successfully. We have 4 kids age 4,5,8 and 9 and some family probs that we would like to escape from and feel this might be a solution. Thinking of the Chester Fairoaks site as we have just been and thought it was lovely and Chester itself so beautiful.

Do you think santa would manage to find us??

Also we travelling from Ireland so have to be sure it worthwhile. Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks

Brenda

Hi Brenda

We have 2 kids age 8 & 2, we went away to broadway last christmas and it was great, the kids loved it & want to go again. We were going to try Moreton in marsh this year but my wife is pregnant & doesnt fancy staying in the caravan when 7 months pregnant. Will definitley be looking to go away at xmas 2010 though.

Give it a go your family will love it.

Go for it!!

Tell the kids that Santa will find you but only bring small gifts as there's not so much space in the caravan. Other things will be waiting at home etc..

The other advice i'd give its don't be too ambitious with your food, You won't get a 20Lb turkey in the caravan oven! Keep it simple & enjoy being a family.

It'll be cool weather so take a couple of big plastic boxes with lids to keep outside to suppliment your fridge space.

The kids will LOVE it so have fun!

Hi Brenda, we didnt go away with the kids at xmas but really wished we did. We have however been away for the festive period for the past 4 years and cant see us staying at home now, its really really good, Im sure that your kids will love it.

As for santa finding you, he now uses sat nav for people who goes away for xmas, all you (or the kids) need to do is write to him letting him know where you are and he WILL find you. Getting a sign for the outside of the van will also help.

LOL

happy caravanning

We considered Christmas in the van( to escape all the family strife!! ) but then the wife was pregnant with out second child due in first week of Janauary so it was a no go.we will, however consider it maybe this year or next. My son who is now 6 months has taken to caravanning like a duck to water. It would certainly be different and I am sure my eldest would love it.

Hi brenda.

Do you mean how could you power a Wii in the caravan? If you're on hook-up just plug in to the 240V They don't pull much current.

If you're not on hook-up, I've just looked at our Wii, they are 12v DC input so it might be possible to get a cable. I don't know how the caravan battery will take to running the TV & Wii.

I'd avoid using an invertor as they pull quite a lot of power from the battery.

Hope this helps

Gareth
