If you're a member of the Caravantalk forum or Touring & Tenting forum, look up Ian Dunning and send him a PM. He has had PSA cars for a few years and for the past 18months or so has had a Picasso with the EGS box.

Yes I had the 2litre Grand Picasso EGS for most of 2009 but have just replaced it with an X-Trail. I found the auto box generally OK and it made driving around towns smooth and very easy. There was a slight, disconcerting "pulling back" sensation when changing up 1 to 2, and occasionally it could be caught out rolling up to give way junctions, then trying to accelerate. It could take a few seconds to decide the gear to choose which was a bit worrying if something was approaching. Your instinct is to press the gas pedal but generally that just made it worse as it decided to change down yet again.

The box was not the reason for replacing it however, I found the traction really poor when towing on grass slopes or wet roads, the wheels were inclined to tramps, then traction control cut in and made it worse. Also I made a big mistake in having the petrol version which had no guts and terrible consumption when towing even our small van. (19 mpg!)

yep, we've got one and are about to sell it. We've had the car 3 years, I love the flappy padels, but the gear changes are very jerky and is awful at low speed in 1st gear (eg in traffic). If you can live with the gearbox, it's a good engine and car. We tow a large single axle van with ours (MTPLM 1500kg) and get high twenties MPG. Only selling it to get a more powerful car so we can upgrade the 'van.
