Does anyone know where you can source a clock to fit an 85mm aperture. MUST not have a second hand can't stand ticking clocks.
Tried Ebay and amazon

The vast majority of battery driven analog clocks utilise quartz regulated movements, and often clocks without second hands still have the drive mechanism for the second hand but just don't fit the hand itself, so they are still likely to tick every second.

Even those that genuinely don't have the second drive will often click when the minute hand moves usually every 10 or 15 seconds.

I have seen some quartz regulated wall clocks that do have a true swept second hand, but I have no idea where they came from.

Have you considered a digital clock?

The OP could try a Rolex Oyster mounted in a walnut 85 mm circular base with a magnifying glass in front of it :) No ticking there.

Most clocks appear to be 72mm dia so 13mm of tape is not an option.

There are quite a lot of 85 mm clocks from online outlets but if as Prof says some will have second hands not installed but still with the movement. How you find out what is what could be a challenge.

Even if you can find one the old clockwork ones tick too and quite surprisingly loud in the small hours.
How about a small digital portable which can be laid face downward at night so the
light of the display does not disturb you too.
Not being sarcastic, Despite tinnitus I'm very aware of ticking clocks as well and of extraneous light from fridge panels, chargers etc. Sleep masks are readily available on ebay to cope with the light problem, digital watch with push button illumination takes care of the clock at night with bigger display digital by day.

Tell me about it, I have tinnitus so normally I can't hear much. But a ticking clock and Alde control panel do a good job of stopping me s!eeping. Oh and a crazy cockatoo puppy
