i'm going to a cl near north stainley in early feb, has anyone been to either of the following, and if so please can you give me the run down. HOWGRAVE HALL, SUTTON HOWGRAVE. WEST LEAS FARM, GALPHAY or any other 5 van sites near by? regards mark
what was the CL site like? was it hard standing or grass? was there anywhere to walk the dog very nearby? marks out of 10 please. and can you remember if the beer they sold in "the crosby" was black sheep. sorry about the million and one questions, but when i go somewhere i want to have a great time. i hate it when something doesn't come up to your expectations and then you are packing up to find somewhere better. its a pity the 2 big clubs didn't do a web site for CL's/CS's with pictures etc, thanks a lot anyway Ken, happy vanning.Mark
we haven't stayed at any of those you listed. However, we did stay outside Northallerton at a CL in Thornton-le-Beans at The Crosby Public House last year (seems strange saying that).
Nice village, very nice beer and very, very nice food.
We went the weekend that the North Yorkshire Moors had flash floods - we left about an hour before the downpour started.
Regards
Ken

We stayed at this one at Wath. Lovely site, lovely owner, good views and can cycle along the lanes into Ripon. We stayed here the weekend of the floods and funnily enough, decided to go home via the A1 instead of through Thirsk - great decision. If you can manage without hook-up, the CL in Main Street, Wath, Ripon is a lovely, quiet site, run by a very friendly ex-farmer, Mr Bewdley. It is sheltered by the churchyard wall, and is a regular sun trap. It is on two levels, try to get on the top level for better views. It is in the village which has an excellent Thai restaurant at the pub.
