I can see the advantage of using my cordless drill for the corner steadies to save my back but it is a bit bulky and heavy.
I am wondering if a cordless screwdriver would be OK for the job. Does anyone use one and, if so, what make/model is recommended?
Thanks
g.

Sorry, but we use a cordless drill, having not found a screwdriver which is up to the job! We also use it for our motormover, so the bulk doesn't really matter now - but it is surprising how quickly it runs out of 'steam'!

I use a Bosch 10.8v Drill, weighing in at 1.1kg and it more than capable ...... Bosch
But you get what you pay for and i have never had it run out of steam when away.
As i use it for other things at home it was well worth the money when i bought it.

I always use a cordless drill and have done from our first day of caravanning and as I have a back problem it is a great advantage.
I can recommend the drills that are in Aldi at the moment PowerCraft a really good bit of kit at £19.99.
I hope this helps
Sir Roger.

After the annual service, a screwdrive will probably work quite well. However, a year later, when the threads have picked up some road dust and the grease has hardened, they won't cope.
I've tried several drills over the years - mainly with Ni-cad batteries. these suffer from the ' memory effect' and you really need to discharge fully before recharging, Can be done by using electical tape to hold the trigger down with the drill out of use, but a bit of a fiddle. If you have two batteries then you may not get caught out but the problem is only postponed. The larger drills say 18v. and above do the job but are heavy (particularly since leg duty is allocated to HID) and there is some danger of overwinding the leg and thus distorting the body of the caravan.
I've now bitten the bullet and bought a Bosch 14v with two Li-ion batteries which do not suffer from memory effect. It is light but strong and very useful round the house as well. Better still HID loves it !
