I see in one of the posts that the cotswolds are mentioned. I went to Cirencester CC site last summer and we loved the Cotswolds. I would like to know what people think is the best CC sight in the Cotswolds. We are going back again this year as two weeks were not enough to explore the region. Loved the villages, especially the ones that are not "advertised".

I'm glad you love the Cotswolds. I live just outside Moreton in Marsh and its great. I would recommend Moreton CC site. Not that I've stayed there, a bit too close to home, although we were tempted to go there when we got a new van, just to try the van out. From what I've heard it's an excellent site and bear in mind it won the Calor Caravan Club Site of the Year award in December. From what I've seen from reception it appears well laid out and the staff are friendly. It's also within walking distance of Moreton itself, with its many tea rooms, pubs and its Tuesday market (be aware of handbag thieves). While you're visiting the Cotswolds, if you have a head for heights, you must go up Broadway Tower on a clear day, a marvellous site.

Enjoy youselves while you are visiting, you too Jo-Anne.

Thanks Anita,

the two weeks we spent at Cirencester were great. My daughter loved the outdoor pool. I got off the beaten track to check out the less well known villages with my camera and they were all stunning. The Cotswolds farm park was very good as well. The people at the site seemed to think it strange that we would spend a fortnight there instead of say a weekend or a week. As I said in another post, there is not enough time in a fortnight to get round everything, including Broadway tower!

We stayed at Moreton in Marsh at the end of March this year.

First class site and well located as it is within 5 minutes walk of the town.

The site is upto the usual Caravan Club standards and was spotless when we were there. One half of it was closed whilst one of the toilet blocks was refurbished.

It is the only site in the Cotswolds we have stayed on so can't really offer a comparison but is well located for visiting most of the area

The Cirencester site was immaculate and quite big. Next to an estate that is nice for walks into town. Wanted to see a polo match but missed out. Hopefully next time.

Hi Jo-anne

As I said previously, I live in the Cotswolds so have never been to any sites in the area. Broadway is only about 15 min drive from home so is really too close. I might give the Cirencester site a go at some point though, it sounds pretty good from the comments here.

We have only been caravanning a year and have tended to go to the more commercial sites so far. That way I know I won't get the 'I'm bored' whines from my two kids, aged 11 and 13 (although the 13 year old is convinced she's at least 18!!). But we do intend to start using CC sites at some point.

Spent last weekend in the Cotswolds although not with the van and i've never seen such lovely scenery. Upper and Lower Slaughter are unbelievably pretty villages and we'll definitely be back there over the next few months with the van in tow.

Cirencester site is a good size, right on the edge of town. Town itself is a good size as well but still has that country feel to it and very attractive. There is a nice open park with swings etc. The facilities are much the same as other CC sites and very friendly wardens. As I said, its right on the edge of a big Estate.

Hi Jo-anne. The outdoor pool is in town and is enclosed within a high wall. It has a fair amount of space around the pool for sunbathers and a pool for kids next to the main swimming pool. My two year old loved it and never bothered about it being a bit cold. Of course I had to play with her in it all the time, that goes without saying.

I liked getting of the beaten track when coming back from a day trip, find a village, any village and stop off for a bar lunch. Usually the weather was good enough to sit outside. Canny wait to get back there.

I travelled throught the night from my home in Falkirk, Scotland. One quick stop in Stafford then on again to beat the Birmingham traffic. Took 7 hours.

We also visited the bird park and an animal park with Lions and Zebras etc. Watched some morris dancing in the Slaughters, nice hotel in the Lower Slaughters for a cup of tea. Swindon wasn't too far for the cinema. Couldn't do it all!
