Finally my luck has run out. I've had a very runny nose last few days, I assumed it was on going sinusitis from previously posted "infernal cold". Had the day off work today due to shoulder pain and generally feeling a bit grotty. Ate a pasty for lunch today and thought it tasted a bit odd. Decided to test, expecting nothing . Lo and behold, took a passing glanceswhilst after doing a couple of things while it processed, a line next to "T". Not the strongest, but clearly there. Oh well. At least it'll be out of way before Easter and won't interfere with important things like caravanning!

This happened to my wife and me as well ! We had both been feeling really tired with symptoms of a cold, and she did a test, something we haven't thought of for ages. Turns out it was positive - and so was mine.
We had managed to avoid it by being so careful since the beginning, and thought is was all now in the past. It turns out that there are still plenty of cases around, it just doesn't make the news any more.
It actually took 10 days before we got a clear reading. It gave us a good reason to take plenty of rest, as we wanted to allow the best chance of a good recovery. Going on our first trip with our new caravan in two weeks, so didn't want to miss that !
I will certainly revert to wearing a mask in the supermarket now ...

You’re right about cases ONS report around 1 million per week are infected. It’s causing chaos with our attempt to move my brother in law from a care home in Coventry to one in Wiltshire. The one in Wiltshire had a case of covid so effectively closed its doors and tested all. It required a minimum period of 14 days before further LFT and PCR tests have to be negative. The PCR results were due this last Monday, today they have some but the balance should be reported by Friday. In the meantime the NHS in Coventry who are funding his care there are putting pressure to move him out. Understandably because his room in the Coventry care home is required by other hospital patients requiring discharge and assessment.

Covid infection does seem to be increasing however it does not seem to be as serious as the original infection. No mention of latest death rate.

Contagion seems weird. Friend of mine got it for the second time. Positive for about 7 days. His spouse didn’t get it. Our daughter had it, went into work thinking it was a bad cold. Sat in a team meeting with a number of colleagues, tested when she got home and found she was positive. Thought she would have infected them all. None of them caught it, or at least none got any symptoms.
Still need to be aware though as clearly our friend and daughter each got it from somewhere.

I am pleased you both are on the mend and you can look forward to your first break i have been wearing my mask for some time now at supermarkets and shops .

Hi Dusty we went to Tesco supermarket yesterday i saw alot customers with a mask on but not many using the trolley cleaning stations .

We did the same and both negative for the test. OH still uses the trolley cleaning stations however neither of us wear masks. Trolly cleaning stations should have bene made compulsory many years ago with similar applying to baskets.

I felt rotten the week before i tested positive, and worse the week after (when i was testing negative)

I am in the, "Vulnerable" group of people, due to my immune system being low, so have now had 5 lots of Anti Covid jabs, 3 different lots.
I go out, socialise, I don't wear a mask. With the latest variety of Covid I think it is important that people get exposed to it for their own body's immune system to fight the virus, and of course this will show up as cold and flu like symptoms.
Let us not forget that The Flu and Pneumonia, are also deadly.
I think if people have symptoms and have to go out then wear a mask to help others.

I told my wife that I had border line tests, kept on the Hot Toddy's for a full week until she sussed me.Just tested again today. Still positive. Stonger line than Tuesday! Annoying because I don't feel that ill. Never mind. All is not lost. Sending dad to to offy to pick up some beers and drop them at my door.
Hope you recover well.
I've got a half bottle of whisky in. Not a big whisky drinker but it's a great decongestant when you've got the lurgy.

Currently "thought to be ten times more fatal the flu". "Thought" is not necessarily fact All through this pandemic we have been told to listen to "the science", as if it is one single immutable entity. There are all too many voices of doom and gloom in the media and swathes of the so called scientific community who would have us in masks and lockdowns forever more. Restrictions which were based on advice from "experts" such as behavioural psychiatrists and ridiculous projections of people like Neil Ferguson all dressed up as "The Science". It has been revealed by the Hancock WhatsApp messages that there was an intention to "scare the pants" off us. The majority of the media focused on the negativity. I prefer to listen to more rational people such as Prof Carl Heneghan, Prof Sunetra Gupta and Dr Renee Hoenderkamp. To be honest, these days I just prefer not to worry and get on with life.

I just say “ vive la difference” There’s not enough expertise on a caravan forum to provide a knowledgeable and balanced debate. Just let everyone do what they think is best for them. We have moved on from 2020-22 why resurrect old views.
