MMMM i own a 2009 sprite alpine to which ive had no end of problems with so when the work was all done i changed dealers to take on the service including all warrency work.(hence to say a lot of the trouble i had was DEALER related) Now gone in for the second service to which i had a full report including a damp report,Now im told that there is a reading of 20% damp on both sides on the rear end about 18 inches from the roof,i have been told to take the van back in may/june for a retest as it may be a false reading due to the weather.now im a bit of a skep is this a ploy or just normal as i know if there is wet there now that will turn to dry rot when it warms up.any replies will be helpful thank you,

Hi Eddie.
We had a new Bailey a couple of years ago, and when it went in for its first service they got a reading of 20% damp at the front window. Service was done in the November and the weather had been very wet, dealer wasnt to concerned about it and said to bring back in about 3 to 4 months and get it rechecked. On taking back for check they got no damp reading and was put down to the weather and condensation. Recheck was done free of charge. We now have another Bailey and van is excellent.

Dougie....

Hi Ed. 20% is not a level of concern as during the current damp conditions, it is quite pheasable for the woodwork of your van to absorb this amount. Condensation will form when the van is standing in damp foggy days.

I would take up their offer to recheck in spring time just as a piece of mind measure.

We are fulltiming in our Abbey Freestyle and currently we get condensation on the sidewalls of the seat base lockers, because they are the coldest part of the van. We have moisture traps there to help and we leave the front drop downs open a bit to let warm air circulate.
