How are the side panels joined to the floor on an old caravan (1984)? I have damp starting at the bottom edge of a window leading down to the floor on a side panel, is there a way of resealing the side panel and floor? Have re sealed the window but after the heavy rain it still seems wet which makes me think it could be coming from the bottom of the side panel.

Thanks

I'm new to this myself, but having just repaired quite a bad damp patch I'd say look at resealing the rails above the window. This is apparently quite a regular place for water to get into. I'm going to do all my window and awning rails over the winter.

The sides are screwed to the edge of the floor panels and covered by a cover strip along the bottom edge.

If your van has aluminium sides, in two parts, with cover strips about half way up the van sides, water is more than likely getting in there, as the sealant has probably hardened and fallen out over time.

Best solution is to reseal every join by removing the cover strips and awning rails, cleaning them al up, and the van where they go, and applying new mastic and refixing them .
