I was in the area a few years ago so decided to check the site out. While there a caravan arrived about 10.30 and at that time the rule was 12.00. The warden made the person turn around and go back out and come back after 12, what it clearly states in the handbook. To anyone who has been to Chatsworth it is obvious why the rule is in place. Although the person wasn't happy being turned away it served him right.

If as Trevor says happens and I arrived at the stated time and someone was just leaving I know who would be backing up and it wouldn't be me.

I've had the same letter Trevor and intend doing as requested ;O)

Never had a letter but it is well understood that you can't arrive at Chatsworth before 1.00pm. This is mentioned on the confirmation you get when you book online. I am pretty sure the leaving time is by 11.00am as well. This is not the Caravan Club being difficult its just the is a long narrow approach to the campsite with no passing places. If too many vans arrive before 1.00pm they would be out on the main road which would not be acceptable to the Police!

I have to admit that on our first visit to Chatsworth I drove up to the wardens office at about 12.15 to be told rather sharpely that the booking in time was 1pm. I was told to park up at a car park near the garden centre. The irony was that i had to drive around the sites one way system to get out and there were numerous vacant pitches that i would have been happy to use. I learnt the error of my ways and next time queued at the Island on the drive way until 1pm three of us then set of down the access road in a procession only to be met by an out fit coming the other wayclose to the river, the grass was wet and it was a bit touch and go for all concerned.

My only comment is , to relax and enjoy because its worth waiting for !!!

Had the letter, quite a simple matter really. Don't arrive before 1.00.

Have stayed there and we love it. Even in the frozen depths of winter it's a glorious place.

We were at Chatsworth last week, Sunday to Sunday. We arrived about 10 minutes before, drove past the entrance eastwards to find a number of outfits parked around the village triangle (well it wasn't square). At 1.00 we all moved off to enter the site. Thankfully no-one tried to leave as they would have no chance. At one point there were over 25 outfits queuing on the single track road. Over the 7 days everyone who left the site did so before 12.00.
