If you're on the autoroute (A26) then there'll be no problem - the fuel stations will be open. You can check details using the www.autoroutes.fr, or http://www.bison-fute.equipement.gouv.fr/diri/Accueil.do if you can understand some French.

Boxing day (a Friday) is a "normal" working day in France so everywhere should be open.It is not a national holiday as in the UK but some employees will "faire le pont" literally "make the bridge" ie take the day off between Christmas Day and the weekend. You should have no problems getting fuel on the autoroute, at supermarkets or large chain (Total, Elf, Shell and BP) petrol stations. Try your UK credit card in the card only pumps if you get the chance, if only to see if it works! That way if you are stuck on a Sunday or Bank Hol you will be familiar with the process. If it is a recent issue chip and pin card it should be ok - certainly in the more modern petrol stations. Some machines will actually recognise it as UK issue and will give you instructions in English.

Bon chance!
