'Ding' on my table

Being new to caravanning, it wasn't long before we opened an overhead locker and cups fell out making two 'dings' in the table.

Presumably for lightness, the table seems to be made of corrugated cardboard with a thin veneer on top.

My nic eSwift dealer says that a new table top is £180.

Does anyone out there know of a repair company please?

Thanks

Barry

Hi Barry

Some years ago I experienced similar 'dings' on a table. I repaired this myself using 'plastic wood' of the appropriate colour. It was virtually unnoticable after it was finished, it just needed a small amount of patience to carefully rub down the excess 'wood'.

This method is worth a try before you spend money on a table whether new or off ebay. A small tube of plastic wood is only about a couple of quid.

Regards

Not so long ago there was a similar question. I think someone suggested Araldite suitably coloured with poster paint powder put onto the 'ding' then covered with cling film to smooth it out. The cling film can be peeled of when the Araldite hardened.

colorfill is used when fitting worktops together as well as repairs, there is a large range of colours, might do what you want.

This has been covered before by various persons.

I had a couple of holes in my worktop caused by plastic glasses - the van was 2 months old at the time !!

I used a laminate floor repair kit from a DIY store. It is a filler that you can colour using the various dyes.

Hope this helps.

I solved the same problem by using woodfiller, sanding until absolutely flat then covering the table top with Vymura to match the original, carefully trimming the sides with a craft knife. It's on a roll in various wood shades from places like Wilko.

I have had a ding on my table top. Used magicman and they did a good repair. This was suggested by insurers to try - if not satisfied with repair they would replace the table. Was satisfied so can recommend them in my case
