Dog friendly sites

After nearly three 'dogless' years following the demise of our old much-loved rescue dog, we have just got another from the RSPCA. So far, so good - she's a little star! Having a dog around the house again is wonderful and I'm walking miles every day! Next job is her pet passport.
We're now going back to using the tunnel (more expensive, but much quicker) and would like to hear from any fellow dog owners about sites that are good for off-site walks, preferably with a small river/lake/stream for the dog to cool off in if, hopefully, the weather is hot. We really like La Filature at Gannat, which ticks most boxes. The area is not too important as we will get around most regions over the next few years.
Any suggestions gratefully received, and thanks in advance.

Close to Dunkirk for our first stop we always use Camping le Chaumier near St. Omer. Dogs on lead when off your pitch (although this doesn't apply to the owner's Bouviers!), but there's miles of footpaths outside the site gates.Great bar and better food as well.
Camping la Bourbuisse between Troye and Arcis sur Aube is also good, especially in the back field, again miles of walks nearby.
Other than that we have found most European sites are dog friendly

Les Peupliers at Riviere sur Tarn is great for dogs, and the site takes Camping Cheques for a long part of the season. Les Rivages at Millau is alongside the Dourbie, and also very dog-friendly and takes the ACSI Card. The Ardeche is a good river for dogs, as are some parts of the Dordogne. Soleil Plage has a very dog-friendly beach, and takes Camping Cheques.
When I mean dog-friendly I mean low banks, with shallow water near the banks, where a dog can 'paddle' out - some dogs don't like to jump into deeper water.
France in general is very tolerant of dogs, they are allowed in restaurants, and most bars have dog bowls outside, or if you order a drink will bring a bowl of water for your dog.

Another one that we have had a really good holiday with the dogs is Camping Lestep near Albine/Mazamet in beuatiful wooded area and nice lake just by camp site. Site pool is really excellent with a nice low key bar area. Not too far to drive to coast for day out, or to Carcassonne.

We stayed at La Filature in 2011 with our Retriever. We were only going to stay one night as first impressions were not overwhelming. In the event we stayed over a week and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a slightly scruffy site but relaxing and informal. The English owners are very laid back and cook some very tasty local receipies. Several people were only going for short stays but went for two weeks.
There are plenty of lanes and paths from the site for dog walking and an extensive library in reception.
